MOLLY’S PLATFORM
-
The rising cost of housing in Farmington cannot continue. We need to implement stronger tenant protections, expand affordable housing opportunities to individuals of any income bracket, and strengthen the Homestead Tax Credit program.
-
I will work to expand protections for workers (including giving Public Sector workers the right to strike), institute minimum wage for all (regardless of tips), protect jobs from AI, and fight for the Job Corps centers in our state. I will support Unions and strive to bring more good union jobs to Maine.
-
We need stronger public transit systems and infrastructure to connect communities and reduce car dependency. This will help give rural, disabled, and low income individuals access to opportunity as well as help reduce pollution in our state.
-
I will work to hold our government accountable to their commitment to fund 55% of our public education system. This means that less funding will be derived from property taxes and prevents Mainers from essentially paying for public school funding twice. I will defend the rights of LGBTQ+ students, stand against extremist censorship of the truth in our schools, make sure each and every student has a rich and quality education regardless of socio-economic background, and strive to make higher education accessible; starting with reform & funding to the UMaine system.
-
One of the most special aspects of Maine is the unique beauty of our state– and we must protect it. I will fight for urgent action on climate change. I will not only stand up against efforts to dismantle the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act, but take measures to actively strengthen them. I will invest in sustainable energy and prevent CMP from rapidly increasing the annual cost of resident’s electricity bills. I will work to institute planning and prevention for the recurring flooding that has happened in Farmington.
-
I will work tirelessly to defend Medicare and Medicaid and prevent cuts to their funding. I am intimately familiar with the failures in our healthcare system and I believe we need to provide universal Medicare for all. I will work to heighten transparency around the cost of healthcare services and increase reimbursement rates for Medicaid and VA health insurance. I will work to support small, rural medical practices and increase the availability of quality healthcare in rural areas of our state.

I enthusiastically support tribal sovereignty in our state. The sovereignty of the Wabanaki people must be respected. The 1980s Maine Indian Claims Settlement Act currently prevents full tribal sovereignty in Maine and therefore restricts funding and program access for the Wabanaki people. Unlike the 570+ other federally recognized tribes in the US, the Wabanaki nations in Maine have restricted access to federal laws and protections. Restoring tribal sovereignty is a mere fraction of what needs to be done to start repairing the harm that has been done to Maine’s indigenous community, however it is a strong start in the right direction. Supporting land return and tribal sovereignty reforms in Maine is not solely a moral responsibility, it also will spark a huge economic boom that will benefit Mainers of any background across the whole state.
-
I will protect the rights of each and every member of our community, including the working class, LGBTQ+ individuals, and our neighbors who are immigrants. I strongly believe we need to reform our criminal justice system with a focus on rehabilitation and reducing risk for future offense. I believe we need to end the failed war on drugs and focus on real, lasting solutions for both PWUD and those closest to PWUD.

We need more small businesses in Farmington. The unique businesses throughout our town are a huge part of what makes this place so special. And yet, small business owners are facing rapid closures, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. I will work to implement stronger tax breaks for small businesses and create an economy that is hospitable for individuals to start & continue local businesses, inviting ingenuity, employment opportunity, and economic expansion. In addition to this, I will work to increase the affordability of healthcare for sole proprietors & businesses with under fifty employees. When people’s basic needs are met with ease, it invites them to pour their energy into their ventures and passions, rather than struggling to keep themselves afloat.
